Odisha government issues flood alert in Balasore district

Odisha has put Balasore district on flood alert after heavy rains caused major rivers—Budhabalang, Subarnarekha, and Jalaka—to swell dangerously close to or above their limits.
The Subarnarekha is flowing at 8.41 meters, and Jalaka has already crossed the danger mark.
Authorities expect the highest water levels overnight and into Monday morning.

TL;DR

Situation being monitored closely

Engineers are on site and the State Flood Cell is keeping a close watch. Local officials have been told to speed up evacuations and relief efforts just in case things get worse.
The weather department says heavy rain could continue across northern Odisha till July 4 because of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, so everyone's bracing for possible flooding this week.
