Over 1 million West Bengal voters flagged for odd age records

India

West Bengal's draft voter list just revealed something unusual: over a million voters were listed as being born when their parents were less than 15 years older, and hundreds of thousands more have grandparents who would have been under 40 at the time.
These mix-ups mostly show up in border districts like South and North 24 Parganas, Malda, Murshidabad, and Nadia.

What's being done about it?

The errors don't stop at ages—there are mismatched parental details and even sex recorded differently from past lists.
Booth Level Officers are now visiting homes to double-check these records.
If things still don't add up, Electoral Registration Officers will step in for hearings.
Nearly 5.8 million names, categorized as uncollectible forms, might need another look, and political parties (especially TMC) are making sure no real voter gets left out by mistake.
