India
Between 2024 and 2025, Bihar reported more than 2.83 lakh dog bite cases—a jump of about 38,900 from the previous year.
That's about 776 people bitten every day, with Patna topping the list, followed by East Champaran and Nalanda.
Patna had the most cases (nearly 30,000)
Patna had the most cases (nearly 30,000), but other districts like Gopalganj and West Champaran also saw high numbers.
The state's health report also flagged acute respiratory infections and deadly snake bites as major worries.
Heartbreaking incident
A heartbreaking incident in Bhojpur in May 2025—where a pet dog killed a six-year-old boy—shows why better stray management and stricter pet rules matter.
With numbers this high, it's clear public safety needs more attention than ever.
