India
Big day for Kerala's railways: Prime Minister Modi is set to launch projects worth ₹142 crore in Kochi on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The upgrades focus on better regional connectivity and a more modern travel experience, including revamped stations and a newly electrified rail line.
New trains, revamped stations
Three major stations, Shoranur Junction, Kuttippuram, and Changanassery, now sport upgraded amenities and local design touches thanks to the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Plus, the new Palakkad-Pollachi train will make trips between Kerala and Tamil Nadu easier for everyone from daily commuters to tourists.
Electrification of the Shoranur-Nilambur Road line means faster trains without engine swaps, making journeys a bit smoother all around.
