Rajnath Singh to visit Australia for defense agreements
India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is heading to Australia on October 9-10 for a milestone visit.
The two countries will sign three major agreements to boost info sharing, maritime security, and joint military operations—marking five years since they kicked off their strategic partnership.
This is also the first time an Indian defense minister has visited under the current government since 2014.
Strengthening ties and defense cooperation
Singh will meet with Australian leaders and join a business roundtable in Sydney, just before the big "AustraHind" military exercise kicks off in Perth (October 13-26).
These new agreements matter because they'll help both countries work together better on security challenges in the Indo-Pacific—especially as China gets more assertive.
Plus, joint drills like these mean stronger teamwork and readiness between their armed forces going forward.
