Revival of southwest monsoon expected across India

India

The IMD says the Southwest Monsoon will pick up again over Maharashtra and nearby regions starting June 14, after a dry patch since late May. Expect heavy rain in some spots across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Marathwada, with winds possibly reaching 40-60km/h.

Helps plan better, reduces flood/drought risks

A good monsoon is make-or-break for farmers and water supplies—especially since recent rains have been all over the place. The IMD's heads-up helps everyone plan better and reduces risks of floods or droughts. Plus, this rain could finally bring relief to areas that have been waiting for a proper downpour.
