'Sagar Kavach' security drill commences in Tamil Nadu
The Indian Coast Guard just kicked off its 'Sagar Kavach' exercise along Tamil Nadu's central coastline.
This two-day drill brings together the Coast Guard, Navy, police, and local agencies to test how ready everyone is for real-life maritime threats like smuggling or infiltration.
Districts like Pudukottai and Thanjavur are in focus as teams practice joint surveillance and quick response.
The exercise started on a Wednesday and concluded on a Thursday.
Fishermen encouraged to report suspicious activities
It's not just official agencies—fishermen are also looped in, encouraged to report anything fishy (pun intended).
The drill even includes mock infiltration attempts, with security teams intercepting "intruders" at spots like Velankanni and Nagore.
The goal? Make sure everyone—from patrol boats to harbor checks—is prepped for whatever comes their way along the coast.
