School bus with 23 students topples into canal near Kattubadipalem

A school bus carrying 23 students toppled into a canal near Kattubadipalem, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday (August 22, 2026).
Six children got away with only minor injuries, thanks to quick help from locals and the bus attendant.
The accident happened when the driver tried to overtake another vehicle and lost control.
Locals rescue students and driver absconds
Villagers and passersby rushed in to pull everyone out and get the injured students to a hospital.
Mylavaram ACP P Ramachandra Rao said the ayah and locals responded immediately and saved the children.
The bus driver ran off after the crash, so police are now looking for him.
Thankfully, the low water level in the canal kept things from getting worse, and all injured students are stable.
