Shiv Pratap Shukla takes oath as Telangana governor
Shiv Pratap Shukla, a senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh, just took oath as the new governor of Telangana.
The ceremony happened in Hyderabad, with Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh leading the proceedings.
Shukla was appointed by President Droupadi Murmu last week and moved here from his previous role as Himachal Pradesh's governor.
Shukla's political journey and experience
Shukla brings decades of political experience: he has been a four-time MLA from Gorakhpur, was a member of the Rajya Sabha, and even handled the finance ministry as minister of state during PM Modi's first term.
His background suggests he will bring steady leadership to Telangana at a time when state politics are pretty dynamic.
Changes in other gubernatorial appointments
He takes over from Jishnu Dev Varma, who is now heading to Maharashtra as its new governor.
This is part of a larger reshuffle: R.N. Ravi moves to West Bengal, Nand Kishore Yadav is Nagaland's new governor, and Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Syed Ata Hasnain steps in for Bihar.
