Sikhs protest Rahul Gandhi's Delhi home over Sajjan Kumar praise
India
On Saturday, Sikh families and organizations gathered outside Rahul Gandhi's Delhi home, upset over some Congress leaders calling Sajjan Kumar, a former party leader convicted in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, a "hero" and "role model."
The remarks have stirred fresh pain for victims' families.
DSGMC leaders seek apology and clarification
The protest was led by Harmeet Singh Kalka and Jagdeep Singh Kahlon from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), with a heavy police presence.
They want Gandhi and the Congress to clarify their stance on Kumar and are asking for an apology to the Sikh community, saying these comments have reopened old wounds from 1984.
