Tragic lion attack claims child's life in Gujarat
A five-year-old boy, Gulsingh Harilal Ajnera, was tragically killed by a lion near Thordi village in Amreli district on Wednesday.
He was taken from a farm just outside his home, and his body was found nearby.
Forest officials quickly responded, capturing the lion and moving it to a rescue center.
TL;DR
Increasing lion-human conflict
Gulsingh's home wasn't inside the traditional Gir National Park area where Asiatic lions usually live.
But recent surveys show lions have now spread to 11 districts across Saurashtra—including places like Amreli—thanks to their growing numbers (891 lions counted this year versus 674 five years ago).
As more lions move into new areas, encounters with people are becoming more common and sometimes dangerous.
