Two Tamil Nadu teachers selected for National Teachers's Award 2026

Two teachers from Tamil Nadu (J. Amutha, headmistress at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya-2 in Madurai, and M. Thanga Raj from Puliyampatti Panchayat Union Primary School in Erode district) have been picked for the National Teachers's Award 2026.
They're among just 48 educators recognized across India this year, with the president set to present the awards on National Teachers's Day.
J. Amutha dedicates award to parents
Amutha, who's been teaching for 22 years, shared her happiness by dedicating the award to her parents: "Without them, I am nobody." She also thanked her family, colleagues, and students for their support.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has extended his congratulations and appreciation to both of them.
