UP BJP MP calls for ASI survey of Masud Dargah
BJP MP Anand Shankar Gond has asked for an official survey of the Syed Salar Masud Dargah in Bahraich, following UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's recent comments against celebrating Masud as a hero. Gond says there's a historic Surya Kund at the site, connected to Maharaja Suheldev and his guru Rishi Balark.

Gond is pushing to restore the Surya Kund and set up a statue of Rishi Balark, sharing that the site is historically significant due to Suheldev's 1033 AD victory over Masud. Locals also believe the kund's water has healing powers. The dargah's annual fair was canceled this year due to security reasons. Meanwhile, Adityanath opened a new memorial for Suheldev, highlighting efforts to honor local legends over figures seen as outsiders.
