Western Disturbance drenches Jammu and Kashmir, officials urge travel caution
India
Jammu and Kashmir is getting soaked by heavy rain, thanks to a strong Western Disturbance.
Batote and Gulmarg are seeing some of the worst showers, and officials in Srinagar are asking everyone to skip nonessential travel because flash floods and landslides could happen.
Weather department: rain until April 10
The weather department says this unpredictable rain will last until April 10, with even more showers expected from April 7-9.
People have been told to stay away from rivers and lakes like Dal Lake and Jhelum, while farmers are pausing work for now.
There is also a heads-up for fresh snowfall at higher spots like Zoji La and Mughal Road, so if you are in the hills or planning a trip, it is best to play it safe.
