'Where is your father?' SC to Mehul Choksi's son
The Supreme Court just turned down a plea from Pranav Choksi, whose dad is the well-known fugitive Mehul Choksi.
Pranav wanted out of a big recovery suit tied to the National Spot Exchange Limited (NSEL) case, but the court wasn't having it.
Chief Justice Surya Kant even asked in court, "Where is your respected father nowadays? The whole country is eagerly waiting to give him a red-carpet welcome."
Mehul and Pranav's legal mess
Mehul Choksi ran Gitanjali Group and is infamous for his alleged role in India's massive Punjab National Bank scam, estimated at over ₹13,000 crore, alongside Nirav Modi.
He fled India in 2018 and lived in Antigua and Barbuda before subsequent movements and arrests, facing allegations including fraud, forgery and corruption.
Meanwhile, his son Pranav has been accused of benefiting from N K Proteins trades linked to the NSEL case—so now both father and son face legal heat.
Choksi's extradition to India is imminent
This isn't just about courtroom drama—India's been chasing Mehul Choksi across continents for years.
A Belgian court recently cleared the way for his extradition back to India, rejecting his claims about unfair treatment.
With both father and son under legal scrutiny for huge financial scams, this saga shows how high-profile fugitives are still being held accountable—even if it takes years and crosses borders.
