Widespread rainfall prompts multiple yellow alerts in Bengal

The IMD has put several North and South Bengal districts under yellow alert until July 5, thanks to a low-pressure system over Jharkhand.
Expect steady rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds—Birbhum, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, Murshidabad, and North 24 Parganas are all in the mix.

Hill areas like Darjeeling and Kalimpong face landslide risks.
Plus, fishermen have been told to stay off the Bay of Bengal until July 2 because of rough winds up to 55km/h.
All this could mean travel hassles and possible flooding for folks across Bengal.
