Xi Jinping in New Delhi for BRICS summit trade talks
India
Chinese President Xi Jinping is in New Delhi for the 18th BRICS summit, and his talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi are about trade.
India-China trade hit $127.7 billion in 2025-26, a solid jump, but India's trade deficit with China also reached $99.19 billion.
That trade gap is a central economic challenge.
India's imports from China reach $131.62B
India's exports to China saw a big boost (up 36.62% to $19.47 billion), but imports from China grew even more, reaching $131.62 billion, mostly industrial goods like electronics, machinery, and chemicals.
China now supplies around 43% of India's electronics imports and 40% of machinery and computer imports, and 44% of organic chemical imports too.
To balance things out, India is eyeing more exports like tea and aquatic products.
