Born on September 16, 1959, David Richardson is a former South African cricketer. He is also the former Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council and had ensured that the preparation of neutral venue pitches was in the hands of the ICC. Having played over 40 Test matches and over 120 One Day Internationals as a wicketkeeper, Richardson had also represented Eastern Province and Northern Transvaal in several domestic competitions. He is also widely known for his trademark sun hat as well as brown gloves that garnered a lot of attention. Besides being a cricketer, Richardson is also a skilled lawyer. However, he remained in the field of cricket after his retirement as a business agent for various players. Richardson’s son, Michael Richardson, has played county cricket for Durham in England.
