Tata's seven-seater SUV, the Gravitas, to be launched in 2020

Tata Motors has revealed the name of its upcoming Tata Harrier-based seven-seater SUV. It will be called Gravitas. Going by the teaser image, the upcoming car will look similar to the Buzzard SUV, which made its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Notably, the car is likely to be launched in India at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. Here's our roundup.

    How will it look like?

The Tata Gravitas is likely to share most of its design cues with the Harrier. However, considering that the former will be a seven-seater model, it is expected to come with a restyled rear design including a bigger tailgate as well as roof-mounted spoiler. Besides that, the car could come with slightly taller wheels and an all-LED lighting setup.

    Inside the cabin

The interior details about the Gravitas are not known yet. However, reports suggest the seven-seater car will offer a similar cabin as its five-seater sibling, the Harrier. The car is likely to get a fully-digital instrument cluster along with a touchscreen infotainment panel. In terms of safety features, driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, and parking camera with sensors should come as standard.

    Power and performance

Tata Gravitas will reportedly be powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine that we have seen on the Harrier. However, it will be tuned differently for greater power output. In its present state of tune, this unit churns out 170bhp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the car is likely to be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

And, what about pricing and availability?

There is no word on the pricing of Gravitas as of now. However, reports suggest that the SUV might come at a premium of Rs. 1 lakh over the Harrier, which currently falls under the Rs. 12.99-16.95 lakh price bracket.
