Government to introduce Securities Markets Code Bill in Parliament
The Indian government is rolling out the Securities Markets Code Bill, 2025 during the current Winter Session of Parliament, wrapping up on December 19.
This new bill plans to simplify things by merging three major laws that currently govern India's capital markets into one modern code.
What's changing and why it matters
The bill aims to make investing safer and doing business smoother by cutting outdated rules and reducing paperwork.
It introduces a Regulatory Sandbox so new financial products can be tested before hitting the market.
There's also a plan for an Ombudsperson to help investors get their issues resolved faster, plus more transparency in how rules are made.
By updating regulations, India hopes to create a more attractive environment for investment—both from within the country and abroad.
