India and Canada hold inaugural Finance Ministers dialogue in Toronto
India and Canada are gearing up for their first-ever Finance Ministers's Economic and Financial Dialogue on August 26-27, 2026, in Toronto.
This marks Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's debut official visit to Canada, where she will join Canada's Minister of Finance and National Revenue Francois-Philippe Champagne to talk about growing economic ties, supporting sustainable growth, and facing global challenges together.
Focus on boosting trade and investment
The big focus is on boosting trade and investment, especially with India's rapid growth in sectors like energy, agriculture, AI, and advanced manufacturing.
Canadian investments in India topped C$110 billion back in 2024.
This dialogue could also set the stage for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and stronger supply chains as both countries look ahead.
