India, New Zealand make progress on free trade agreement

Business

India and New Zealand just wrapped up their fourth round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks, with both countries' trade ministers sounding pretty upbeat about the progress.
Over five days, they focused on making it easier to trade goods and services, team up on economic projects, and discuss rules of origin.

FTA could boost trade between the 2 countries

If this FTA goes through, it could seriously boost trade between India and New Zealand—trade already jumped 49% in FY 2024-25 to hit $1.3 billion.
The deal could open new doors in areas like agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, pharma, education, and more.
Both sides say they're committed to keeping up the momentum for a mutually beneficial agreement that fits into India's commitment to forging deeper economic partnerships.
