No upper limit on export value for courier shipments
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the removal of the ₹10 lakh limit on what you can ship abroad via commercial couriers, effective April 1, 2026.
Now, for eligible courier-mode commercial exports, if you're using an authorized channel and have an Import Export Code (IEC) (and GST registration where applicable), there's no upper value cap on your export consignments — subject to compliance with applicable laws, RBI guidelines and safeguards; certain goods remain restricted or prohibited and special rules (for example, for jewelry re-imports) continue to apply.
What this means for exporters
This makes it way easier for MSMEs, startups, creators, and D2C brands to send high-value products overseas—no more splitting shipments or jumping through hoops.
The budget proposes a technology- and risk-based digital return facility that links returned parcels with their original export records and aims to smooth returns, which could mean lower shipping costs and less terminal congestion.
Sectors like jewelry, textiles, and electronics get a special boost too.
In short: global e-commerce just got a lot simpler for Indian businesses aiming big.
