NVIDIA, Foxconn plan humanoid robots for Houston factory
NVIDIA and Foxconn are teaming up to launch humanoid robots at a new Foxconn factory in Houston, which will build NVIDIA's latest AI servers.
This is NVIDIA's first time using these types of robots in manufacturing, with the rollout planned for early next year alongside the GB300 AI server launch.
Robots being trained for specific tasks
The robots—some with legs, others on wheels—are being trained to handle tasks like assembling parts, inserting cables, and moving objects around.
Foxconn has been testing different models (including ones from China's UBTech), and plans to show off the new designs this November.
The Houston factory is set up so these bots can fit right into the production lines.
Will humanoid robots replace human workers?
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang thinks humanoid robots will be a normal sight in factories within five years—and this move is a big step in that direction.
Other big names like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Tesla are already experimenting with similar tech.
It looks like robot coworkers could soon be part of everyday manufacturing life.
