SEBI moves to bar duplicate penalties for dual listed companies
The Securities and Exchange Board of India, or SEBI, is rolling out a new rule to stop companies listed on more than one stock exchange from getting hit with the same penalty twice.
Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey shared that this move should make life easier for companies and keep things fair for investors.
SEBI reviews governance and disclosure frameworks
The new framework is all about making regulations simpler and cutting out unnecessary overlap.
SEBI is also reviewing the framework for monitoring and disclosure of utilization of issue proceeds and is looking to further clarify the framework governing related-party transactions.
Pandey said he wants corporate governance to focus less on just ticking boxes and more on real responsibility, so compliance gets clearer, but investor protection stays strong as India's markets grow more complex.
