The US just announced steep new tariffs on solar panels and cells from India, Indonesia, and Laos.
Officials say producers in these countries got unfair government subsidies, which made it tough for American solar companies to compete.
The investigation focused on a key part of solar tech: crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells.
Tariffs up to 126% face USITC
Tariffs are pretty high: 123.04% and 126.09% for Indian producers, 94.36% for Indonesian ones, and 65.43% for Laos. Extra duties range even higher.
Now the case heads to the US International Trade Commission (USITC), which will decide by October 14 whether these imports really hurt US industry.
If they agree, final tariff orders come out by November 2; if not, the whole thing gets dropped.
