US startup Radiant Nuclear lands $300 million to power up microreactors

Business

Radiant Nuclear just scored over $300 million in fresh funding, led by Draper Associates and Boost VC, with big names like Chevron Technology Ventures also joining in.
This puts the company's value at more than $1.8 billion.

What are they building?

Radiant's main product is a compact, helium-cooled microreactor that fits on a semi-truck and runs for five months without refueling.
It's designed to swap out diesel at remote sites, and customers can buy or subscribe to these units, which last up to 20 years before being returned for safe handling.

What's next?

Radiant plans to deliver 20 reactors to Equinix and will run a demo at Idaho National Lab next summer.
As part of a US Department of Energy program that expedites approvals and with over $465 million raised so far (including backers like Andreessen Horowitz), Radiant is aiming to make clean energy way more portable—and a lot easier to deploy where it matters most.
