Elizabeth Olsen confirms she won't return for next 'Avengers' movies

    What's the story

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), revealed that she won't be returning for the upcoming Avengers films.

"I didn't realize this until about six years ago, but because Marvel and its influence take up so much physical time and space in the world, it's really important for me to make choices outside of Marvel that reflect my own taste," she said.

    Artistic choice

Olsen's decision reflects her desire for personal artistic exploration

Olsen further elaborated on her decision, saying, "Your taste does create the artist that you are, and that wasn't something I was thinking about when I first started working."

"So the opportunity to return to films like The Assessment is a reflection of the people I want to work with and my taste."

The Assessment is currently running in American theaters. Meanwhile, the upcoming Avengers films she will not be part of are Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

    Upcoming ventures

    Olsen's future projects remain undisclosed

While Olsen has made her stance on Marvel clear, she hasn't divulged any details about her future projects.

Avengers movies aside, the actor was seen in the Disney+ series WandaVision, where she reprised her role as Maximoff. The series was well-received by critics and audiences alike, earning Olsen an Emmy nomination.

She also played a lead role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).

    Upcoming movies

The upcoming 'Avengers' movies: What's in store?

Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon.

Doomsday is expected to bring intense battles and high stakes, while Secret Wars could reshape the MCU as we know it.

Both films promise epic action, beloved heroes, and major surprises. While details are still under wraps, anticipation is already sky-high.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in May 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in May 2027.
