'Janaki v/s State of Kerala' makers resist CBFC changes
The new film Janaki v/s State of Kerala, starring Suresh Gopi, is caught up in a dispute with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which wants changes to its title and content.
The filmmakers are pushing back, saying these changes would take away from what makes the film unique—especially since release day is just around the corner on June 27.
More than 90 cuts requested!
Director Pravin Narayanan shared that CBFC has asked for more than 90 cuts, which he feels would strip the film of its emotional core.
The team says they weren't warned about any issues during filming and haven't been told why the name "Janaki" is a problem.
With a review committee set to look at the film again, the makers are gearing up for a legal fight to protect their creative vision.
