Nani's 'HIT 3' team accused of plagiarism
The Madras High Court has sent a legal notice to actor-producer Nani, director Sailesh Kolanu, and the "HIT: The Third Case" team after writer Vimalavelan accused them of copying his script.
Vimalavelan says he registered his story with the South Indian Film Writers's Association on August 4, 2021, and claims the film closely follows it.
The court wants the HIT 3 team's response by July 7, 2025.
Writer's detailed account of events
Vimalavelan shared his script synopsis with Nani on August 8, 2022, but never heard back.
After watching the movie, he felt it was basically his story with just a few tweaks. He even sent a cease-and-desist notice, which got no reply.
Now, he's asking for 20% of the film's profits as compensation.
'HIT: The Third Case' has earned over ₹100 crore
With "HIT: The Third Case" earning over ₹100 crore since May, this legal battle could get interesting.
Vimalavelan has submitted detailed similarities between his script and the film to support his claim.
The court's decision will set the tone for what happens next in this copyright clash.
