Priyadarshan's 'Haiwaan' opens to ₹3cr despite Kumar and Khan reunion
Priyadarshan's Haiwaan, a Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit Oppam, released on September 11, 2026.
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan teamed up for the first time in 17 years, but the film only managed ₹3 crore net on its opening day, despite a star-studded cast.
'Haiwaan' 11% occupancy, ₹4.6cr global
Haiwaan saw just 11% occupancy across 7,224 shows, with night screenings peaking at over 18%.
Its global Day 1 gross is ₹4.6 crore (including ₹1 crore overseas). But it's struggling to stand out: Hanuman Ansh pulled in ₹10.89 crore over two days and sits at a massive ₹174.02 crore total, while Mirzapur: The Movie added ₹30 crore this weekend for an India total of nearly ₹158 crore.
With Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Mohanlal's cameo, and Asrani's final role on board, fans are watching to see if Haiwaan can pick up steam.
