The Cure win Grammys after 50 years together
Entertainment
After 50 years together, The Cure finally won their first Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026—taking home Best Alternative Music Album for "Songs of a Lost World" and Best Alternative Music Performance for "Alone."
Instead of attending the ceremony, the band members chose to honor longtime bandmate Perry Bamonte by attending his funeral.
Bamonte's contribution to the cure
Bamonte played a huge part in The Cure's history—first looking after the band in the mid-'80s, then as a full-time member from 1990.
He contributed guitar, bass, and keyboards to classic albums like "Wish" and "Bloodflowers," and performed at over 400 shows with the group.
Bamonte passed away on December 24, 2025 at age 65 after a brief illness.
