Unni Mukundan rejects possibility of 'Marco' sequel
Unni Mukundan, who starred in the Malayalam hit Marco, has decided not to make a sequel. Replying to a fan on Instagram, he shared, "Bro, apologies but I have dropped plans to continue the Marco series. Too much negativity around the project." He also promised fans he'll try to bring something even bigger and better.
'Marco...': highest-grossing A-rated Malayalam film ever
Released in late 2024 and directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco became the highest-grossing A-rated Malayalam film ever with over ₹104 crore worldwide. While fans loved Mukundan's gangster role, the film faced criticism for its violent content and dark themes—so much so that the CBFC had to step in with cuts and restrictions.
Fans divided on social media
Some fans are bummed about missing out on Marco 2, but others respect Mukundan's choice to move forward. Judging by his recent social media posts, it looks like he's already busy working on new projects.
