What's the story

Jaafar Jackson, son of Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza, is set to make his acting debut by portraying his uncle Michael Jackson in the upcoming biopic, Michael. The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King. "It's incredibly exciting to watch Jaafar bring Michael to life," Fuqua said in a statement to Variety in January 2023. Here's everything to know about Jackson.

Background

Jackson has been in the entertainment industry for a while

Born in July 1996, Jackson has been singing and dancing since he was 12. He released his debut single Got Me Singing in 2019, accompanied by a music video showcasing his skills. He also starred in the family's reality show Living with the Jacksons in 2015 and appeared in Tito Jackson's Love One Another music video in 2021.

Role preparation

Jackson on landing the role

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, Jackson recently said, "This is surreal. This is my uncle, this is crazy. It was really a surreal, a spiritual moment." He added that it wasn't just a traditional audition but rather a multi-year process where he had to "earn the role over two years." "Before I even officially got the part, and then I had some more time to really hone in all the details, knowing I had the part."
