17 people injured as 2 busses collide near Mannargudi

A private bus and a TNSTC government bus crashed near Kottur, close to Mannargudi, on Sunday afternoon, leaving 17 people hurt.
The accident happened while the private bus was traveling from Mannargudi toward Thiruthuraipoondi and the government bus was on its way from Vedaranyam to Thanjavur, and several passengers ended up with serious injuries.

Who was affected and what's next?

Among those injured were the government bus driver Mahendramani (48) and conductor Senthilkumar (35), along with passengers like Deepa (25), Sathya (34), Selvi (62), Selvaraj (59) and his wife Gomathi (49), Aishwarya (35), and Malar (40).
Nine people were treated at Tiruvarur Government Hospital, while eight others got care in Thiruthuraipoondi.
Police are looking into what caused the crash.
