Brendon McCullum: News
Brendon Barrie McCullum is a former New Zealand cricketer who captained the national team in all three formats of the game. A wicketkeeper-batsman, McCullum is easily one of the finest to play for the Kiwis. Known for his explosiveness as a batsman, he debuted in ODIs in 2002 and Tests in 2004. The best wicketkeeper to wear the colors of the Black Caps, he decided to stand down from wicketkeeping responsibilities in Tests to concentrate on his batting in 2010. In 2012, McCullum was appointed as the captain during turbulent times in New Zealand cricket. Although he started on a rather low note, under his leadership, the Kiwis became a team to watch out for. In 2014, he became the first Kiwi batsman to score a triple-hundred when he scored a monumental 302 against India in 775 minutes. Described as "brash" by himself, McCullum scored the fastest half-century in the 2015 World Cup and led Kiwis to the final. In 2016, he retired from international cricket and, in his last match, scored the fastest Test century ever. He announced his retirement from all forms of the game in 2019.
