26 people arrested for attacking whistle-blowers exposing scams: Govt

A total of 26 persons were arrested last year in eight cases for attacking whistle-blowers exposing scams, Union Minister Jitendra Singh informed Rajya Sabha. Also, six cases were registered and 22 persons arrested for attacking RTI/social activists in 2017, he said. Presently, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) takes up the representations of the whistle-blowers alleging harassment/threat to life, said the Minister of State for Personnel.

Complaints regarding harassment/threat to life sent to concerned organizations: Minister

"Complaints regarding harassment are sent to concerned organizations with an advice to give protection to the complainant. In cases of threat to life, the matter is referred to the agency concerned nominated by Ministry of Home Affairs with an advice to give protection," Singh said.
