AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra declared proclaimed offender in rape case

India

AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra has been officially declared a proclaimed offender by a Patiala court after skipping multiple court dates in a rape case.
The move follows his failure to show up despite being served a legal notice back in October 2024.

What happened and where things stand

Pathanmajra is accused by a Zirakpur woman of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation—she says he lied about being divorced to start a relationship with her.
After the FIR was filed, he reportedly slipped away from his relative's house just before police arrived, then traveled through Nepal and flew to Australia even though there was already a lookout notice against him.
Police have now booked his relative for helping him escape, and the court is moving to seize Pathanmajra's properties.
He told reporters he won't return unless granted bail by the High Court, saying, "I have already applied for bail in the Punjab and Haryana high court. Once I get bail, I will return."
The next property hearing is set for January 31, 2026.
