AI surveillance to enhance Karnataka highway safety
Karnataka's Transport Department is spending ₹70 crore to set up AI-powered cameras on busy highways, starting with accident hotspots near Bengaluru.
These smart cameras will spot traffic violations in real time and send out e-challans automatically—no human needed.
Locations were picked based on accident hotspots
First up, about 60 cameras are going in at places like Ramanagara (Bengaluru-Mysuru highway), Srirangapatna, Bengaluru Airport Road, Attibele, Hosapete, and Tumakuru Road's Parle-G junction.
These locations were picked based on where accidents happen most. More spots in Tumakuru districts will follow soon.
