Air India Express pilot accused of assaulting passenger at Delhi airport

India

At Delhi's IGI Airport, a heated argument broke out when Air India Express pilot Captain Virender (also referred to as Virender Sejwal in some reports) and Ankit Dewan had a confrontation at the staff security checkpoint, where Dewan was waiting with his family.
Things escalated quickly—Dewan says the pilot used derogatory language and then physically assaulted him, leaving Dewan injured.
He even shared photos showing blood on the pilot's shirt as evidence.

What's happening now

Following the incident, the Ministry of Civil Aviation told Air India Express to ground Captain Sejwal, and he's been suspended while an internal inquiry runs.
Dewan claims airport staff and CISF pressured him to sign a statement waiving his right to complain so he wouldn't miss his flight, but he hasn't filed a police complaint yet.
Now, Dewan is asking for CCTV footage from the airport to be made public, hoping it will clear up exactly what happened.
The airline says it will cooperate with authorities during the investigation.
