Amarnath Yatra routes declared 'No flying zone'
To boost safety for this year's Amarnath Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir has banned drones, UAVs, and balloons along all pilgrimage routes from July 1 to August 10.
This move, ordered by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, covers both the Baltal and Pahalgam paths leading to the shrine.
TL;DR
Why this ban was necessary
The extra security comes after a recent terror attack in Pahalgam and follows a government review.
With lakhs of pilgrims expected between July 3 and August 9, the ban aims to prevent aerial threats during the yatra.
Don't worry—medical emergencies, disaster response, and official security work are still allowed under special rules that'll be shared soon.
