Andhra police seek custody of 50 arrested Maoists for investigation
Andhra Pradesh police want more time to question 50 Maoists who were arrested in a major crackdown called 'Operation Sambhav' on November 18.
The operation, which teamed up special forces like OCTOPUS and Greyhounds, targeted several districts at once.
Right now, the group is in 14-day judicial custody while police move to get further custody for deeper investigation.
What's behind the arrests?
Police say these Maoists—including some leaders—came into the state with weapons and plans to restart violent activities.
They reportedly hid out in both residential and industrial areas while plotting attacks.
Investigators are now trying to track down local supporters who may have helped them stay hidden, especially in NTR District.
Police emphasize that getting more time with those arrested is important for understanding their network and intentions.
