Anupama Saroj Singh takes VRS to join politics and policymaking
Anupama Saroj Singh, who served as deputy commissioner of GST in Uttar Pradesh, has opted for voluntary retirement from the state administrative service after nearly 10 years of thinking it over.
She says there's a real need for more women in politics and policymaking, and wants to step out of her government role to make a wider difference.
Political family background undecided on party
Singh comes from a political family: her mother is former MP Sushila Saroj, and her husband is Samajwadi Party spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria.
She's also known for her work in music and films as Anupama Raag.
Frustrated by the limits of administration, she hopes to focus on women's issues and education.
While she hasn't picked a political party yet, she's talking things through with her family and close associates before making her next move.
