Army Chief assesses Amarnath Yatra security measures
General Upendra Dwivedi, the Army Chief, recently visited Kashmir to review how things are shaping up for this year's Amarnath Yatra, which kicks off July 3.
The pilgrimage draws thousands to the high-altitude cave shrine each year.
During his visit, he got updates on how tech is being used to keep everything running smoothly and praised the Chinar Corps for helping maintain peace in the region.
No-fly zones, suspended helicopter rides this year
To ramp up security, all yatra routes are now no-fly zones from July 1 to August 10—so drones and balloons are out.
Plus, helicopter rides have been suspended this year, so pilgrims will need to trek or use ponies and palkis from base camps.
These changes are all about keeping everyone safe as they make their way through some pretty tough terrain.
