Assam Don Bosco University dismisses Saurav Chandra over sexual-misconduct allegation
India
Assam Don Bosco University, near Guwahati, has let go of Dr. Saurav Chandra, who headed the Public Administration Department, following a sexual misconduct allegation from a second-semester woman student.
The university announced his dismissal on June 16 and said it is committed to keeping campus safe and respectful for everyone.
Students protest, demand protections and accountability
The complaint was quickly sent to the Internal Complaints Committee, which held an inquiry the next day.
Still, students were not satisfied. They protested about past complaints being ignored and called for a deeper investigation this time.
With police on campus to keep things calm, students made it clear they wanted stronger protections and real accountability from the administration.
