Ayodhya mosque construction still on hold, years after Supreme Court order

Even though it's been over six years since the Supreme Court gave the green light for a new mosque in Ayodhya, actual construction hasn't started yet.
The group in charge, Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), is running into roadblocks with both design plans and fundraising.
Traditional design chosen, but funding remains tight
After the community pushed back against a modern glass-dome look, IICF switched to a more traditional style with five minars and domes.
They're aiming to submit the new design by December, but don't expect building to begin before March 2026.
Donations have picked up slightly since the redesign, but there's still not enough money—so IICF is highlighting community features like a hospital and research center to attract more support.
