Bengaluru law student arrested after airgun accident injures businessman
India
A Bengaluru law student, Mohammed Afzal, was arrested after accidentally shooting a metal pellet from his airgun and injuring businessman Rajagopal D near Krishna Rao Park on December 10.
Rajagopal, who was out for a walk with a relative, was hit in the neck and later filed a police complaint that led to Afzal's arrest.
Police confirm accidental firing; investigation ongoing
Afzal told police he owns three airguns and had been practicing at home for a sports event when the pellet missed its mark.
Ballistic tests matched the shot to an accidental discharge from his house rather than a targeted attack.
Police have seized all three of Afzal's airguns and are running forensic tests as part of their ongoing investigation.
