In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old home guard was stabbed to death by her husband around 20 times in front of her children and family members at her parental residence in Bengaluru's Mahadevapura on Sunday evening. According to The Times of India, the victim has been identified as Manjula, who was posted at the Mahadevapura police station. Her husband, Pradeep, who also allegedly lost ₹7 lakh-₹8 lakh in online betting, has been arrested after a manhunt.

The attack took place at Manjula's parental home in B Narayanapura. Pradeep had come under the pretext of apologizing and convincing his wife to return home, but he had hidden a knife in his jacket. When Manjula approached him during an argument, he pulled her close and stabbed her around 20 times.

Manjula's mother, who returned home with the couple's son after attending a relative's funeral, witnessed the brutal attack. Pradeep reportedly pretended to fall at Manjula's feet and then stabbed her multiple times. She was rushed to a nearby government hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors. The report said Manjula had been living separately at her parental home due to years of marital discord.

Pradeep said he couldn't live without his wife and would kill her if she refused to return after his apology. After the attack, he allegedly slashed his own hand in a bid to harm himself before fleeing the scene. The Mahadevapura Police have registered a murder case and arrested him. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination as investigations continue into this tragic incident.
