Two Bengaluru police officers have been suspended after allegedly stopping a differently-abled man late at night, searching him without cause, and threatening to frame him in a fake drug case.
The officers took his phone, checked his WhatsApp, and pressured him into paying ₹37,000.
Victim filed a complaint after reaching out to NGO
The victim managed to pull together the money through a bank withdrawal and help from a friend.
The cops gave back ₹3,000 before taking off. After reaching out to an NGO for support, the victim filed a complaint.
Both officers were suspended following the incident and are now facing an internal inquiry for extortion and intimidation.
Senior officials say the investigation is ongoing to ensure accountability.
