BEST unions threaten bus shutdown in Mumbai this Friday

Mumbai's city busses could go off the roads this Friday, June 19, if worker unions don't get answers to their demands.
They're pushing for the BEST budget to merge with BMC's, permanent jobs for contract drivers, quick payment of pending dues, and 5,000 BEST-owned busses to boost the fleet.
BEST salaries delayed despite 500 cr
Unions say salaries are delayed and arrears are piling up for both current and retired staff.
Even after BMC sanctioned ₹500 crore, union leader Uday Ambonkar, general secretary of BEST Karmachari Sena, called it "welcome but inadequate."
With no clear timeline from management to fix payment delays, and just two days left, bus service disruptions look likely unless there's a last-minute breakthrough.
